This post is via my iPod so it will be quite brief as typing is slow and coffee and the morning paper await.......
The bus to Wellington was uneventful and after a night with little sleep the children attacked the breakfast buffet with rare gusto. We boarded the ferry in the morning for a pleasant and smooth sailing across Cook Straight.
Avoiding the over priced cafes in Picton we next hoped on the Coastal Pacific train to Christchurch where we are now. A long train trip, 5 and a bit hours, but the fact we could stand in an open carriage to take in many great views helped.
Christchurch isn't anything like you may expect after all the earthquakes and appears absolutely normal. We are planning to check out some of Chch today before heading by car to Oaru.
