Sometimes we hope that the New Year heralds the start of new things but often it heralds the same old same old. I'm sitting here doing some data analysis and it feels remarkably like two days ago when it was 2012 but unfortunately that is just the way the world works.
I'm in the process of recoding my data as often happens when you allow your brain to crunch over the data and it starts to take on different angles and perspectives. I now see my data a little differently and the elegant model I developed needs to be replaced with one that is a little more complex but one that I think better reflects reality.
Not that this will cause me to have to rewrite parts of my thesis as I'm adopting a more documentary style and I'm more than happy to take the readers through the changes that occurred as a result of doing the work. As I have reminded a lot of people (myself included) the lessons are always in the journey and not at the end.
With my children now awake I don't expect I'll get too much more done but I'll carry on until I see the writing on the wall!!!!!
